Here's My Story...

I've asked all of you to share your thoughts, ideas and party stories with me - so I thought I should do the same.

My dad turned the big 5-0 a few years back. I decided a party was definitely in order. I am daddy's little girl and I was so excited to be able to make his day special.

As I've mentioned before, in my family pranks and gags are welcomed - so this was going to be fun! My dad was the first to turn 50, so he was targeted! Don't worry, MOM your NEXT!!!

We decided to have an informal and small get together, as my dad is not the type for a large crowd of acquaintances and friends. He would rather just have the family there - so this is what we did.

It was decided we would make it a surprise, he has never had a surprise party before and I was excited to see his reaction.

The plan was:

One person brought dad fishing early in the morning. This was a usual thing, so dad didn't think anything of it. Off they went bright and early while the rest of us got everything ready.

We had a camp site at a local park and we decorated all around the site and made sure there was nothing visible from down the street - this way the surprise wouldn't be ruined as dad drove back into camp.

At a set time we got the call,

"No, we didn't catch anything, we're heading back for a bit to grab some food then go back out and see if we can catch something today"

That was our hint, get ready!

We had a pretty good view from down the trail and when we saw dad's truck drive up we prepared. We didn't want him to figure it out before we had the chance to surprise him so we all crowded onto the path. Everyone had signs, banners and noise makers in hand.

As the truck drove up we started singing "Happy Birthday" at the top of our lungs. Keep in mind that this was a provincial park and it was a weekend in July. It was packed, so the whole park knew it was dad's birthday.

He got out of the truck and was so surprised that all he could say is "Is this for me?". The plan was executed perfectly and the party was a huge success.

We had the cake and we played laser tag, sat around the fire talking about everything and anything. Then it was present time, dad had his own chair and we handed him gift

after gift....

after gift ...

after gift and on wards. He was so happy and so surprised by the whole thing. We had planned a great 50th birthday party!

It was a great day, can't wait to plan the next 50th birthday party!

Now let's here your stories!!
